PROJECT PROFILE

Snowfields Landslide Monitoring

CLIENT: Seabridge Gold Inc.

LOCATION: British Columbia, Canada

Pre-feasibility level designs of proposed open pit slopes up to 1600 meters were completed by BGC, as were the natural hazard assessments for all parts of the mine including the tailings basin, waste dump, water diversion facilities and access roads. The hydrogeologic input included numerical modeling to support the design of the mine dewatering plan. The project required evaluating options for three different pits in a challenging remote setting; depressurization designs that were evaluated included combinations of adits and drainage galleries, vertical wells, and horizontal drains. All work was used to support the Application for an Environmental Assessment Certificate for the project. The certificate was awarded in July 2014.
