Los Helados Copper Deposit

NGEx Resources, through its Chilean subsidiary Minera Frontera del Oro, is developing the Los Helados copper deposit in the high Andes of Chile’s Atacama Region. As part of the preliminary economic assessment for the project, BGC was commissioned to carry out a scoping level study of the environmental aspects of the project. Field studies and reviews of background information were divided into four thematic groupings: geosciences, climate/air/water, terrestrial biota and human environment. The information was gathered and interpreted at various study scales from the detailed local area of influence to the broader regional area of influence.

BGC worked with the client and their engineering team to identify the best solutions for the development of project infrastructure. The environmental studies also provided input to the legal, environmental and social licensing strategy for Los Helados. Based on the results, BGC designed a program for continued baseline studies for the future prefeasibility level development of the project.
