Saman Zarnani, Ph.D, P.Eng. (BC), is a principal geotechnical engineer with more than 20 years of collective experience in consulting and research. His consulting experience includes working on geotechnical projects across Canada, United States, Caribbean, and Asia. His area of expertise include: soil mechanics, earthquake geotechnical engineering, tailings dam design, numerical modelling, earth and rockfill dam performance evaluation under static and earthquake loading conditions, liquefaction and lateral spreading assessments, static, pseudo-static and post-seismic slope stability assessments, geotechnical investigations, geotechnical instrumentation and seismic geohazard assessments. He has close connections with academia and relevant state-of-the-art research and is also part of the team developing the strategy for BGC’s advanced soil mechanics laboratory and seismic and numerical modelling teams.
