Joel Van Hove, M.Eng., P.Eng. (AB, BC), has more than a decade’s experience specializing in geohazard risk management. His work experience is focused on landslide hazards, including hazard inventory development, probabilistic hazard assessment, landslide investigation and characterization, pipeline stress assessment and landslide stabilization. While specializing in landslides of the western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, his technical work has taken him from the Peruvian Amazon and the landslide prone Appalachians of east Kentucky. Joel’s project experience includes managing diverse multimillion dollar geohazard management programs and serving as lead BGC’s pipeline team. His core skills include development of geological and slope stability models, and integration and assessment of geotechnical data from instruments, remote monitoring, In-Line Inspection (ILI) Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and axial strain data, and site investigation. He has authored or co-authored more than 5 peer-reviewed papers.
