Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Gennaro is a geotechnical engineer with a B.Sc. in Geological Engineering from University of Naples, Italy, and a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from McGill University. Gennaro is currently a PhD student in Engineering Mathematics at Dalhousie University where is using quantitative engineering risk analysis to determine the seismic geotechnical resistance factors for the Canadian design codes and to investigate the hydraulic fracturing induced seismic risk in British Columbia. Gennaro is member of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code – Geotechnical committee and is one of the co-author of the 2021 edition of the Canadian Geotechnical Foundation Manual – CFEM.
During the past 28 years, Gennaro has specialized in soil-structure interaction, foundation and shoring design, advanced numerical modelling, geotechnical earthquake engineering and reliability and risk analysis applied to geotechnical engineering. Gennaro has been exposed to a large variety of geotechnical projects including piles design and installation, shallow foundation design, foundation dynamic analysis and monitoring, seismic slope analysis and remediation, site-specific seismic hazard, soil liquefaction analysis and remediation, soft tailings management, tailings dam design, soil-pipeline interaction, construction monitoring and quality control. Gennaro has level 1 AMP project management license.
