Software Development Lead
Eldon Wong P.Eng., PMP, CSM holds a B.Sc.E. in Computer Engineering (Software Option) from Queen’s University. He is a Software Development Manager at BGC and leads the development teams responsible for BGC’s web and mobile applications. He has a strong software engineering and project management background gained from work in diverse industries including naval defense (Canadian and UK Royal Navy), aviation (FAA), internet search, video surveillance and access control, and applied earth sciences. Eldon volunteers as a member on EGBC’s Software Engineering Advisory Group to help bridge knowledge and practices between EGBC and software development professionals. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) who has been championing software and non-software teams to use agile methodologies to successfully deliver projects including helping a start-up successfully deliver its first project to customers by implementing project management and agile development best practices and transforming Avigilon Corporation’s waterfall software development practices into a hybrid agile approach while successfully growing from 20 to over 40 software developers and hitting the $1B market cap on the TSX. Eldon is passionate about building strong, cohesive, and highly effective teams with an emphasis on mentorship. He started BGC’s software co-op program with UBC, SFU, and McGill, which received the 2019 UBC Science Co-op Employer Recognition Award.
