Ed Carey, P.Eng. (BC, AB, ON, NS, NL), has been involved in geotechnical engineering in most regions of Canada, the Caribbean and South America during his 35-year career. Ed’s geotechnical engineering experience includes foundation design and settlement prediction, slope stability analysis, mine mill waste tailings dam investigation and design, marine geotechnical, retaining walls, isolation barriers, industrial solid waste landfills, and erosion and seepage control. He has been involved in major heavy civil construction works including mine site development, hydroelectric dams, electrical power plants, marine terminals, transportation and transmission line corridors, fuel storage tank farms and pipelines. Ed is a member of BGC’s Quality Management Team. He currently serves on the Canadian Institute of Mining Council and is an active member of the Canadian Geotechnical Society and Canadian Dam Association. He has authored technical papers published in the CGS Journal and was the technical coordinator for the Federal Government Public Review Commission on Offshore Petroleum Exploration.
