Bill Burton, M.Eng., P.Eng. (BC), is a Principal Geotechnical/Geological Engineer and a member of BGC’s Management Team. He has over twenty years of experience in engineering geology, including geotechnical and environmental disciplines. He has been involved in field investigations throughout Canada, USA, Venezuela, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, and has undertaken design and review work in North America, South America, and Africa. Bill’s design work has included tailings and water dams, rock and soil slopes (open pits, railway slopes, and natural slopes), heavy foundations, and natural hazard assessments.
Bill has carried out field and design work in ground conditions ranging from tropical residual soils to permafrost terrain, and including weak rock, soft sediments, and mine wastes. He is experienced in the geotechnical mapping of drill core, test pits and rock faces, and the installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation. He also has experience in construction supervision and has performed a variety of numerical analyses, including static and dynamic slope stability assessments, deformation analyses, thermal analyses, and groundwater modeling.
