GEOTECHNICAL ASSET MANAGEMENT FOR SLOPES

BGC is working with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and the Wisconsin Highway Research program, with the goal of developing a Geotechnical Asset Management (GAM) framework for Wisconsin State Trunk Highway 35 to identify the risk factors which lead to slope failures in this region. As part of the project, BGC developed a classification model which ingests data regarding the geology, geomorphology and topography of slopes adjacent to the highway and compares them to the same data from observed hazards along the highway corridor. The goal of the project is to use this study as a pilot for a statewide GAM/geohazard management framework. BGC has carried out a field reconnaissance campaign to develop an understanding of ground conditions along the study highway segment and to build a geological model to be used as part of the classification work.
