Software Development at BGC

BGC is looking for a Junior Full Stack Software Developer to work in our Vancouver, BC office. In this role you will be working alongside world class engineers and geoscientists as part of BGC's talented software development team to develop safety critical software applications. You will apply your software development knowledge to build robust applications that monitor potential geological hazards and risks in real-time. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conquer unique challenges developing web applications using a state-of-the-art geographical information system with cloud infrastructures.

About the Role

  • Develop enterprise geohazard management web application using a proprietary JavaScript framework and Esri ArcGIS.
  • Integrate features with a cross-platform mobile application developed with Xamarin for offline use in the field.
  • Work on features from beginning to end. Help refine User Stories by gathering requirements from stakeholders. Develop software using best in class tools and industry best practices. Be responsible for testing software you've written manually and through automation scripts. Take part in releasing the software into production.
  • Be an integral part of the software team. Work alongside our more seasoned team members in a collaborative Scrum/Agile environment.
  • Stay curious and keep an open mind for new technologies and ideas

About You

  • You have a degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent
  • You love to be challenged and have the willingness to adapt to future technology
  • You are comfortable with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java, or equivalent
  • You have experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • You have experience with databases such as MS SQL, MySQL
