BGC is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in the Santiago de Chile office. The candidate should be recognised for their geotechnical engineering skills and design capability, along with their business acumen, with a view to leading the technical and business aspects of a 20 person consulting office.

Professional Profile

• Undergraduate degree in civil or geological engineering or engineering geology
• Post graduate education in geotechnical or geological engineering or engineering geology
• 15+years of engineering experience and technical leadership
• Advanced understanding of geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and rock mechanics with post graduate training or professional engineering experience in North America, Europe or Australia

Desired Skills

• Strong leadership and project management skills
• Ability to lead geotechnical projects from proposal submission to site investigation to design to construction monitoring 
• Has developed and maintained good working relationships with clients, government agencies, sub-consultants and geotechnical contractors in Chile, Argentina and/or Peru
• Familiarity with the mining, power generation and/or infrastructure development industries 
• Ability to present, prepare and review reports in English and Spanish 
• Interest in mentoring young junior and intermediate geotechnical engineers and geoscientists
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) would be an asset

Experience and proven ability in some of the following main technical areas:

• Soil mechanics and foundation engineering
• Tailings, waste dump, mine waste and dam design
• Engineering geology, terrain mapping and geohazards assessment
• Pipeline geotechnical and integrity assessments
• Cover design, hydrology and mine closure design
